we're back

We're back. We're refreshed. We're grateful. We've gracefully slipped back into reality.
For one, we've successfully prepared for the worst (see previous entry) yet, experienced the best. Grammie couldn't have done a better job or given us a greater gift than perfectly caring for our kids & allowing us a kid-free getaway.
I've got blisters all over my feet; situated in three different patterns from each pair worn, to navigate the Vegas strip. Well worth it. Sitting just a few rows back from the stage, we saw KA, the Cirque du Soleil show at MGM Grand. HIGHEST recommendations from us both. A unique & fascinating experience from start to finish. ASTONISHING!
Taking advantage again, of the tickets for tonight booth (known in NYC as TKTS) providing us with great prices on seats to hot shows, we saw The Phantom of the Opera in the theater built specifically for the show at the Venetian. Dan's first time & I saw it a few times before in Toronto. Powerful music, magnificent set & costumes.
It was uncharacteristically cold for the 4 days we were there. Still, I sat by the pool covered head to toe in thick white towels, reading a novel. When you see the photos of the pools at Bellagio, you'll know why I couldn't resist.
The restaurants were tasty, from fancy to easy fare. Loved the coffee just down the elevator from our room at Palio Bellagio cafe. Dan says: "this is what coffee would taste like, if you asked for the flavor: good!" So right! Got to share a slice of divine cheesecake from Carnegie Deli transported from NYC to The Mirage (nostalgic for us, since we shared a slice in NY right after Dan proposed.)
For each of us, Vegas was such a departure from normal life and couldn't have felt more needed. Neither of us think, we'll opt to go back. Just a bit too much of a "sin city" for us, even with all the "sinless" indulgences to take part in, its not really our taste.
That said, it was wonderful. Truly. Pin It
