Along with many of you, Dan & I are following The Love Dare book.
I'm definitely benefiting from the way the daily readings make you aware of your words, actions & reactions. Each count; each contribute positively or negatively; your choice.

When we began the newborn stage again here in our house in Sept, I prayed (most often at 2am while alone feeding Lilah) that God would protect our marriage through it. I'm convinced that Satan knows this is a prime time of attack. If you've been there, you know what sleepless nights & demanding days can do to you. It occured to me one day in the midst of an argument with Dan that what we were doing was "taking it out" on each other because we very well could not be mad at an infant! I asked the Holy Spirit right then & there to grant me clarity in those moments to come.

This book is on the nightstands of couples all across the nation. The relationship between the couples vary as much as the sheets that cover them. I pray that God works miracles in the minds & hearts of marriages on the verge of death, of the spouse that feels like s/he is the only one trying anymore. For the couples that are thriving together: may this year challenge you to love your spouse the way s/he receives it best. Choose patience & kindness, even when you feel the opposite is warranted. Surprise yourself!

It all counts. Whatever the state of your relationship, you are day to day actions away from making it better or damaging it.

"So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up."
Galatians 6:9 (NLT)

PS: Flowers were on my table arranged with a favorite treat of mine when Dan came home from work one day last week. And to his credit, we hadn't even started the book yet! What a gem! Pin It
